iPad camera accessory:
With Apple pushing FaceTime on the iPhone and iPod Touch, I'm wondering why no one is talking about the possibility of a dock mounted swiveling camera accessory for the iPad. This camera could function as both a rear and forward facing camera, as well as all the angles in between. For a larger, heavier device like the iPad it seems that a dock mounted swiveling camera makes a lot more sense for FaceTime, video, and photos. They could make the camera at least as good as the iP4's rear camera, and thus your FaceTime would be of even higher quality than it is now. Also, this same device could be used on the iP4 and especially on iPod Touch to bring all three devices the same photo, video, and FaceTime quality, and thus increase its demand that much more. This would allow the iPad to continue to be sold at a lower price, and also to institutions that may frown upon cameras being on their devices. (Since the iPad will be used more and more in the classroom, we don't want to encourage little Johnny to be taking unwelcome photos of Susie's panties, do we, and thus avoiding all the ensuing litigation and embarrassment.) Notice that the iPad can already be used upside down, which is exactly what you would need for such a device to be useful.
So, with this one accessory, we reduce costs for functionality that someone may not need or want, allow them to have it if they choose, and provide Apple with yet another revenue stream.
